Program: Global Minor Use Summit 3 – 7 December 2007 FAO Headquarters, Rome, Italy
The Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), the US Department of Agriculture (USDA: the Foreign Agricultural Service and the Cooperative State Research, Education, and Extension Service's IR-4 Project) and the US Environmental Protection Agency (US EPA) have jointly initiated the Global Minor Use Summit, to improve crop protection for specialty crops in industrialized and developing countries, to facilitate the trade of agricultural commodities internationally and to learn from the IR-4 specialty crop model.

Protected cultivation has rapidly expanded in many regions all over the world. Early the major objective was crop improvement by better growth and pest and disease management but climate control was and is still up today a heavy issue. Nowadays, environmental concerns play on important role as much as the trade's and the consumers' demands best quality and safe produce. Also sustainable and controllable production processes are main issues that will rule future developments of protected cultivation.

3rd Annual Biocontrol Industry Meeting (ABIM-Lucerne 2008) will be held on October 20th– 21st 2008.
The 3rd Annual Biocontrol Industry Meeting (ABIM-Lucerne 2008) will take place at the prestigious Lucerne Culture and Convention Centre (KKL), Switzerland. ABIM-Lucerne provides an annual meeting place specifically adapted to the needs of the biocontrol industry.
